An Imperial City founded by King Dom Pedro II in 1843, the city of Petrópolis is a quick hop into the mountains surrounding Rio.  You will see a whole other side of the state's history!  Gorgeous palaces, estates, castles, churches, and traditional German houses line the city scape.  The altitude of this city boasts cool breezes in the summer, providing an escape to the humid and hot summers of the Rio city.  The tour includes visits to Quitandinha Palace, Imperial Palace museum, São Pedro of Alcântara cathedral, Cristal Palace and the home of Santos Dumont.  We also include a visit to the famous chocolate maker Patrone, and depending on your tour a visit to the Bohemia local beer brewery.
